We have already marked our existences in a host of worthwhile activities. In the research front, we have innovated at least three new therapeutic procedures and have opened up a new horizon of treating a difficult to treat disease IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis). We have filed four patent applications and have been actively collaborating with renowned institutes. The institute has earned the recognition of a SIRO (scientific industrial research organization) by the DST, Govt. of India. We have also developed a CDSS (clinical decision support system) on asthma following the GINA guideline and copyrighted it. In the education front, we have been actively imparting education to doctor and different other categories of health care workers to the best of our capacity. Our rural COPD training and education programs have been a great success. We have been awarded the “Chest Foundation Award” by the ACCP (American College of Chest Physicians). In the patient care and benevolence front we try our best to practice a philosophy of care with conscience. We offer free consultations and concession as much as possible and try subsided investigations through requesting the different investigations centres. We have plan of making a multidisciplinary integration centre and an innovation centre in our roadmap. Now, we need a lot of support to come up to our expectations. Incidentally, the central govt. has granted as an exemption of 175% on donation through the sanction of 35 (I) (ii) provisions of the IT (income tax) Act for research activities. All these have been possible by the constant guidance of our advisor, zeal and sincerity of our working members; we are grateful to all concerned for the love, respect and honour they have shown to us. This is our strength and our fuel for the next stride. “Pulmocon” is an annual update of the institute meant to foster education and training on different important aspects of pulmonary medicine. The update has been attended all along by renowned faculty members and doctors from the state and outside. We welcome you to the 8th update, (Pulmocon’10) to be held on 4th & 5th of September, at Swabhumi, Kolkata.
There have been several developments in different frontiers in recent past.
