Pleural Effusion quite often becomes a diagnostic dilemma for physicians. Reaching the exact diagnosis many a times requires repeated fluid analysis. Blind pleural biopsy is a painful procedure but not very effective in clinching the diagnosis.
Pleuroscopy is a, simple procedure done under local anesthesia whereby the pleural lesions can be actually seen and biopsied under direct vision. The diagnostic accuracy of this procedure approaches almost 100%.
This procedure may also be used for pleurodesis in cases of recurrent and massive pleural effusions.
Our Institute is among a very few centres in eastern India providing this highly specialized diagnostic technique at a very affordable cost.
All patients have to take a prior OPD appointment where the individual case is analyzed and only then taken up for thoracoscopy .
