Preparation of a Manuscript
The general format for any article is given above (see 'types of manuscript been invited' in the "instruction to the authors" section) except for 'special articles, etc. The authors desiring such communications may look at our journal at the www.pulmocareindia.org.
For any kind of manuscript, one should use Times New Roman, 12 point size font with adequate space left on both the sides. The manuscript should be prepared in the following format with double spacing between the lines.
The following areas are important to note while preparing a manuscript.
i) Ethics
When reporting a research or experiment (either on human subjects and animals) the author / authors need to state clearly whether the procedures followed in the research were in accordance with the ethical standards and the work has been done on approval by a recognized ethics committee. The registration no of the ethics committee (viz., the registration number with the DCGI) needs to be provided. The journal may ask for relevant papers in case the EC is not registered.
ii) Materials and Methods:
The authors need to detail and describe the selection of the observational or experimental subjects clearly, identifying the peculiarities (if any), defining the parameters to be noted, disclosing the interventions (including the name and other details of the manufactures of a drug or an instrument), elaborating the procedure (if used), and the declaring the statistical methodology been followed as they are followed in any standard journal.
For Randomized controlled trials the authors needs to elaborate the protocol with the assignment details of the intervention and the method of data extraction, monitoring the study, registration (viz. CTRI: clinical trial registration of India), mode of assessing the adverse events. Registration of such a trial is essential for submitting a manuscript. Studies containing health-related interventions like use of drugs, devices, surgical procedures, behavioral interventions, dietary intervention, and/or health outcomes like pharmacokinetic measures and adverse events must be registered.
Statistics
Describe statistical methods with enough detail to enable an educated reader to verify the reported results with access to the original data. Please present the data with appropriate indicators of measurement errors or uncertainty (such as confidence intervals). Specify any use of a computer program as. SPSS, etc.
c) Discussion: should highlight the results and the peculiarities of the findings, if any, in the light of the existing knowledge with possible explanations and elaboration of the novelty of the research. It will further include a comparison of the similar work, the limitations, adverse reactions and the further scopes been opened through the research.
References
Following should be observed while citing the references:
- Following should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text.
- Identify references in text, tables, and legends by Arabic numerals in parentheses as superscript after punctuation.
- Avoid using abstracts and "personal communications' as references. If presented, the author should obtain written permission and confirmation of accuracy from the source of a personal communication. Such permission may be sought by the editorial board.
- References to papers accepted but not yet published should be designated as "in press" or "forthcoming"; authors should obtain written verification that they have been accepted for publication.
- Information from manuscripts submitted but not accepted should be cited in the text as "unpublished observations" with written permission from the authors.
The references must be verified by the author(s) against the full text original documents. There are two components of a reference. One is bibliographic elements and another is punctuation marks. Both should be 100% accurate. The name of the authors, title of article, journal abbreviation, year of publication, volume and page numbers should be clearly typed with routine punctuation marks are coma between authors' list, full stop at the end of title of article, space after abbreviation of journal name, semicolon after year of publication, colon after volume number and comma after the issue number.
We like to refer the authors to look at the site of the journal "lung India" for detailed examples to to cite a reference.
f) Conclusion: this needs to take care of the outcome of the research in nutshell with future prospect in a brief note.
g) Note for image and figures:
- They need to be of high quality; or else be returned
- The pictures must be sent in JPEG format
